How to Use PBI Courses
About PBI Courses
PBI courses are all reader-based, and require completion of workbook material. Additional writing assignments and/or study activities may also be assigned.
Classroom Teaching Formatted Courses: Patriot offers more than 50 courses which provide a well-rounded education and balanced approach to get students into the Bible, and for the development of successful Christian living. They are specially designed to be taught in a classroom setting when combined with the Teacher’s Kit. (These courses may also be used as independent study courses).
Teacher preparation and administration of classes can take nearly as much time as learning the topic.
Background information needs to be researched, quizzes made, transcripts kept and grading regularly performed. Lesson plans and discussion questions need to be created. Whew!
PBI Publications’ 50 classroom format courses offer a Teacher Kit. The Teacher Kit ($59 purchased separately) includes a Teacher Guide, Quizzes, Answer Key plus one set of student materials.
The Teacher Guide (within the Teacher Kit) neatly organizes the topic into 6-8 one-hour classes with lesson plans, discussion questions, and more.
The Teacher Kit is a worthwhile investment for your Bible institute, college, or seminary. Only one kit needs to be purchased per topic and is good for a lifetime.
The Teacher’s Kit ($59) includes a teacher guide, answer key, student text and workbook. The teacher guide includes lesson overviews, background, and quizzes with quiz answer keys.
Everything you need to prepare!
For more than four decades we have been testing these courses with thousands of students. Among other things, we have learned that today’s student performs better with more frequent milestones. Therefore, we have designed PBI courses (especially on the undergraduate level) to be shorter than many traditional college courses. As a result, we recommend that these be:
1. Two-credit (rather than 3-credit) courses for distance-learning and independent studies. In this case, busy students will probably complete a course every 2-3 weeks.
2. Be taught in 6-8 week terms in group classes.
3. An alternative would be to combine two courses into a full semester program, or to simply use a course with its workbook for supplementary “homework” (if your school is locked into a full-semester program). Additional writing assignments may also be included.
Independent Study Courses for Individual Study
In addition to group courses, your school may order from a list of more than 100 courses to use for individual (self-study) or group studies.
Distance Learning Correspondence Courses: PBI offers more than 100 correspondence courses for students interested in self-directed learning through your institution. These courses are reading based and do not require the use of computers or video players nor attending online lectures and forums. Start Anytime, Study Anywhere! Student assessment is accomplished through workbook completion. These courses have been designed from the ground up especially for distance learning.
We also have a selection of interactive PDF courses available for digital delivery.
